The earliest practice of civil engineering may have commenced in between 4000 and 2000 B.C. in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. The department generates the students for gaining expertise in this particular professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physically and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals dams and buildings.
PROGRAMME EDUCATIONALOBJECTIVES (PEOs)
PO1: To provide technical knowledge, skill and competence to identify, comprehend and solve problem in industry, research and academics related to Civil Engineering and related disciplines.
PO2: To train students through the synergetic approach of theory and practical courses towards helping those students for seeking positions in the job market appropriate to their level.
PO3: To foster students ethically in understanding the societal responsibilities.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs)
PO1: The serving should have the ability to work on projects towards civil construction and planning by understanding design compatibility, technical feasibility and economic viability substrates with social, ethical and environmental issues to meet the concurrent demands of the industry and society at large.
PO2: The serving should have the responsibility of optimum design, development and implement of solutions in the milieu of engineering management strategies, tools and software aids.
PO3: Apply ethical principles related to societal and environmental context in a multidisciplinary setting as an individual or in a team.
PO4: The serving should be capable to advocate their existence by qualifying national level competitive examinations for further study and expand employment opportunities.
Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)
PSO1: Innovative Design in Civil Engineering: The ability to create innovative designs with new materials of minimum embodied energy through research and development focusing on global quality of life by observing professional ethics.
PSO2:Civil Engineer and Sustainability: The ability to recognize the need of the hour like housing, sanitation, waste management, irrigation, use of renewable energy etc. for a sustainable environment.
PSO3: Civil Engineering Analysis and Design tools: The ability to analyze the effects of natural calamities like earthquakes, landslides etc. including disaster management and to design stable structures for relevant stress resultantsE
